Central Baptist College head men’s basketball coach Chris Wright announced the addition of Clint Galyean to his staff. Galyean is following Wright from Angelo State in Texas.
“Coach Galyean is a man of great character and possesses a tireless work ethic, said new head coach Chris Wright. “He has a very good basketball mind, and has been a valuable part of the staff at an elite Division II program in Angelo State."
Wright continued, “I have an extremely high level of trust in him, and our student-athletes are going to love being coached by him on a daily basis. He is a tremendous hire for not only our program, but also our institution as a whole. He is the perfect hire for our staff as we try to build off the success that program had here last season. Our goal here is to compete for both conference championships and national championships, Coach Galyean will help us do that.”
Galyean’s coaching career began as a student assistant in 2015-16 when he was charged with helping coordinate the workouts for the Angelo State basketball players. The following season, Galyean served on Coach Cinco Boone’s staff as a graduate assistant and was tasked with player and skill development, recruiting, scouting and film study, monitoring the academic performance of student-athletics and organizing the Concho Valley Classic, a local all-star game.
“I am extremely excited and humbled by this opportunity to join Coach Wright here at CBC. I’m eager to begin working with him in continuing the success established in previous years and building this program, said Galyean. “My goal for CBC basketball is to compete for championships year in year out, while also helping our student-athletes be successful off the court.”
Galyean played one season of college basketball at Angelo State for now Texas Tech head coach Chris Beard. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Angelo in 2016 and is currently working on his Master’s in Coaching, Sport Recreation and Fitness Administration from Angelo State as well.
